Newborn with umbilical cord attached found dead in Goyang‥20-year-old woman under investigation

[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] A newborn baby was found dead in a villa complex in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi Province, prompting the police to launch an investigation.

According to the Ilsan Western Police Station on the 16th, at around 1:05 PM that day, a resident discovered a newborn baby girl with the umbilical cord still attached near a villa building in Ilsanseo-gu, Goyang-si, and reported it to the police.

The police have detained a woman in her 20s living in the villa where the newborn was found as a suspect and are investigating her.

The police plan to analyze the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage installed in the villa complex and request an autopsy of the deceased newborn from the National Forensic Service.
