Goheung-gun, Annual Automobile Tax Prepayment Accepted Until Next Month 1st

The annual automobile tax payment system allows taxpayers to pay the automobile tax, which is usually paid in June and December each year, in advance in January, and until last year, a 10% discount was given.

From this year, the Local Tax Act has been revised so that a 9.15% deduction on the automobile tax amount from February to December, excluding the January portion, can be received.

Also, if the annual payment application is not made in January, a 7.5% deduction can be received if applied for in March, 5% in June, and 2.5% of the annual amount in September, respectively.

For vehicles that have already applied for annual payment, a separate application is not required as the bill will be sent, but for newly acquired vehicles, a separate annual payment application must be made.

Last year, more than 8,500 vehicles, accounting for over 30% of the registered vehicles in Goheung-gun, applied for annual payment and received a total deduction of 183 million KRW.

Taxpayers wishing to pay the automobile tax annually can apply by phone or visit the tax office in charge of the vehicle registration area, or via WETAX, until the 1st of next month.

A county official said, “We plan to take the lead in protecting the tax rights of residents more actively so that residents who are struggling due to COVID-19 can receive even a little benefit.”
