New Slogan and Logo Revealed...Reestablishing Brand Direction
[Asia Economy Reporters Suyeon Woo and Jihee Kim] Kia Motors is changing its name to ‘Kia’ for the first time in 31 years and attempting to transform into a sustainable mobility solutions company. It is redefining its brand slogan, logo, and design philosophy to fit an eco-friendly mobility solutions company and plans to launch seven electric vehicles equipped with dedicated platforms by 2027.
On the 15th, Kia held the ‘New Kia Brand Showcase’ through YouTube and its global brand website, announcing its new brand direction and specific strategies. On this day, Kia removed ‘Motors’ from its existing name Kia Motors and renamed itself ‘Kia,’ declaring its leap into a mobility solutions company. This name change is the first in 31 years since it changed from Kia Industries to Kia Motors in 1990.
At the same time, Kia unveiled its new brand slogan, ‘Movement that inspires.’ This slogan carries a comprehensive meaning of connecting people through mobility and offering inspiration and relaxation.

Kia also revealed plans to launch seven electric vehicles equipped with dedicated platforms by 2027, starting with the electric vehicle ‘CV’ scheduled to be unveiled in the first quarter of this year. Kia’s first dedicated electric vehicle, the ‘CV,’ is based on Hyundai Motor Group’s dedicated electric vehicle platform ‘E-GMP,’ featuring a driving range of over 500 km and a high-speed charging system that takes less than 20 minutes. It will be released in a crossover design and will apply Kia’s new logo. At the end of this month, Kia plans to hold an event explaining the new design direction for the eco-friendly mobility era.
Additionally, Kia is accelerating the development of various purpose-built vehicles (PBVs) targeting corporate customers. Through collaboration with global electric vehicle startups such as Canoo and Arrival, Kia plans to launch PBVs that can apply various bodies on an integrated modular platform.
Song Ho-sung, President of Kia, emphasized, “The change in the Kia brand is not simply about changing the name and logo but signifies expansion into new business areas,” adding, “We will meet the diverse demands of customers worldwide and open new horizons.”
