Uljin-gun to Provide 100,000 Won 'Disaster Basic Income' to All Residents Ahead of Lunar New Year

Second Self-Payment Following Last September... Applications Accepted Starting the 25th

Uljin-gun to Provide 100,000 Won 'Disaster Basic Income' to All Residents Ahead of Lunar New Year

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Uljin County announced on the 13th that it will provide disaster basic income of 100,000 won per person to all residents ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.

This is a basic living support fund decided for the second time at the local government level, separate from the government's nationwide disaster relief fund. Uljin County explained that it secured 5 billion won of disaster basic income purely from county funds through restructuring expenditure budgets that could not be executed in the first half of the year due to COVID-19.

Uljin County plans to accept applications at towns and townships from the 25th, before the Lunar New Year, after procedures such as approval by the county council, and provide 100,000 won per person on the Uljin Sarang Card.

In June last year, Uljin County promptly enacted an ordinance for disaster basic income payment and supported 4.6964 billion won to all residents in the first round in September.

Jeon Chan-geol, the governor of Uljin County, said, "I hope this will bring some comfort to the residents who have been struggling for a long time due to the third wave of COVID-19," and added, "I hope that the upcoming Lunar New Year will revitalize the local economy, which has been depressed, by promoting consumption activities within the region."
