Leaked Chemical Substance Suspected to Be Highly Toxic 'Suhwanhae Tetra Methyl Ammonium'

[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] On the afternoon of the 13th, two seriously injured persons who lost consciousness and collapsed due to a chemical leak at the LG Display factory in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, have regained consciousness and are receiving treatment.
According to the Northern Gyeonggi Fire and Disaster Headquarters, the chemical leak accident occurred around 2:20 PM at the LG Display 8th factory in Deogeun-ri, Wollong-myeon, Paju-si, Gyeonggi Province.
The leaked chemical is presumed to be the highly toxic 'tetramethylammonium hydroxide,' known as a colorless liquid with an ammonia-like smell.
It was reported that about 20 minutes after the accident, LG officials blocked the chemical leak and began emergency rescue for the injured.
The casualties include 2 seriously injured, 6 injured, and 4 with minor injuries, all of whom were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
In particular, the two seriously injured persons who had lost consciousness due to cardiac arrest have been confirmed to have regained consciousness. They were all workers engaged in the panel manufacturing process.
The police and fire authorities are currently investigating the exact cause of the accident by questioning witnesses at the scene and LG officials.
Meanwhile, the 8th factory where the accident occurred is known as the second-built factory during the establishment of the LG Display complex, dedicated to manufacturing model-specific panels.
