[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Ahn Cheol-soo, leader of the People’s Party, responded on the 13th to former Liberty Korea Party floor leader Na Kyung-won’s criticism that she was ‘someone who helped the Moon Jae-in administration’ by saying, “Our opponent is the ruling party candidate.”

After a meeting on child abuse prevention and response held at the National Assembly that day, Ahn told reporters, “I just want to say that much.”

Regarding opposition unity, Ahn said, “The top priority for opposition supporters is to win the Seoul mayoral election and secure a foothold for regime change,” adding, “If this demand is ignored or rejected, opposition supporters will turn their backs.”

Ahn stated, “I hope everyone shares the principle that unity should not be decided based on personal or specific party interests,” and said, “Consideration for the other side is necessary. Only with mutual consideration can we gain the support of all supporters.”

Ahn added, “Ultimately, the representation of the opposition is determined by the people,” and said, “We should not think from the party’s perspective but first share thoughts on how to win the election.”
