[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Yu Chung-geun (52), Superintendent, was inaugurated as the 8th Chief of Changwon Maritime Police Station in Gyeongnam on the 12th.


According to the Maritime Police, due to social distancing measures amid the spread of COVID-19, Yu Chung-geun's inauguration ceremony was omitted, and instead, a session was held to communicate with Changwon Maritime Police staff via PC video conference.


Chief Yu, a native of Geoje, Gyeongnam, was commissioned in 2002 as the 50th class of officer candidates. He has served in the Maritime Police Agency's Innovation Planning Division, Maritime Police Agency's Security Division, East Sea Maritime Police Agency's Investigation Division Chief, and Maritime Police Agency's Comprehensive Situation Room Chief.


In his inauguration speech, Chief Yu of Changwon Maritime Police said, "I hope the maritime police will always think of the people and constantly communicate with them," and added, "Please do your best to be a reliable support that is always present where the people need, ensuring the safety of the citizens."
