[Asia Economy Reporter Joeslgina] Apple CEO Tim Cook speaks out on the 13th (local time), a day before Samsung Electronics unveils its new smartphone at the Galaxy Unpacked event.
The US CBS News morning flagship show 'This Morning' announced the day before that it will air an interview with CEO Cook on the morning of the 13th. According to IT specialized media Phone Arena, this pre-recorded interview contains important announcements related to Apple by CEO Cook and is scheduled to be fully released on the 13th.
Gail King, the host of This Morning and the interviewer of CEO Cook, mentioned that Cook's announcement is not related to new products but is significant. She said it is about "bigger and better" things and added, "I am very excited." The interview is known to have been conducted against the backdrop of the unrevealed Apple Store, Apple Park located in Cupertino.
Phone Arena reported, "Is Apple planning to steal some of the spotlight that Samsung Electronics will receive?" and noted that "(the interview with CEO Cook will be released) on the 13th, a day before Samsung Electronics unveils the S21 flagship lineup consisting of Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra." Samsung Electronics will hold 'Galaxy Unpacked 2021' starting at midnight on the 15th Korean time, which is the 14th US time.
In a short interview video released by This Morning a day before the broadcast, CEO Cook was asked about last week's US Capitol riot. On the 10th, Apple removed the social networking app Parler, popular among supporters of President Donald Trump, from the App Store. The app is known as a far-right SNS, and Apple stated that the service was suspended because Parler did not establish adequate measures to prevent incitement to violence.
In the interview, CEO Cook said, "I think it is important that people take responsibility. And then we have to move forward." He emphasized, "No one is above the law. That is the good thing about our country, and we are a nation of laws," adding, "Everyone involved in the (Capitol riot) must be held accountable."
