[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) has created 8 small-scale public parking lots with 46 spaces in residential dense areas and will start operation from the 15th.
The district purchased 9 old residential buildings with a budget of 4.6 billion won secured through 10 small-scale parking lot projects selected in 2019-2020, constructing resident-friendly small-scale public parking lots with 46 spaces in total: ▲ 5 locations with 26 spaces in Muk 2-dong ▲ 2 locations with 16 spaces in Junghwa 2-dong ▲ 1 location with 4 spaces in Mangu 3-dong.
The usage fee is 50,000 won per month for regular monthly parking, and the operation of the parking lots, including reception and allocation, is managed by the Jungnang-gu Facilities Management Corporation.

The parking lots created this time are part of the Seoul City small-scale public parking lot project. Among 36 projects selected by Seoul City since 2019, Jungnang-gu secured 10, the highest number among autonomous districts, and with the budget of 4.6 billion won secured, 8 of the 10 locations are being operated first.
Additionally, aiming to open in the fourth quarter of this year, 2 more parking lots with 18 spaces will be constructed in the Myeonmok-dong and Mangu-dong areas, receiving strong support from residents for alleviating parking difficulties.
Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi of Jungnang-gu said, “I am very pleased and honored that the small-scale parking lots created this time are expected to greatly contribute to alleviating parking difficulties,” and added, “We will continue to promote small-scale parking lot projects in residential areas with good accessibility and spare no effort to resolve residents’ inconveniences.”
The district plans to actively promote not only this small-scale parking lot project but also a hub-type large parking lot project.
The hub-type large public parking lots being promoted by the district include ▲ Junghwa 2-dong Park Underground Public Parking Lot (104 spaces) ▲ Junghwa 1-dong Public Parking Lot Expansion Construction Project (250 spaces) ▲ Myeonmok-dong Library/Parking Lot Complex Construction Project (116 spaces).
A district official stated that the expansion of small-scale parking lots is expected to have comprehensive effects such as alleviating parking difficulties in residential dense areas, securing pedestrian safety by reducing illegal parking, and improving residential environments linked to urban regeneration projects.
