President Trump took the stage around 12 PM at a lawn plaza in Washington DC with a view of the White House.

Along with baseless criticism of election fraud, President Trump pressured the Republican leadership and Vice President Mike Pence to oppose the certification of the election results scheduled in Congress that day.

President Trump claimed, "Members of Congress have the authority to send back incorrect votes with footnotes." He also pressured, "If the members do not do so, I will never forget."

Regarding Vice President Mike Pence, President Trump warned, "If Mike Pence fails to do this, it will be a sad day for our country."

After his speech that day, President Trump also expressed his intention to join the supporters' march.

President Trump's remarks were made before the joint session of the House and Senate certified the victory of President-elect Joe Biden that afternoon.

According to The New York Times, Vice President Pence, who was to lead the certification meeting that day, expressed to President Trump a day earlier that he did not have the authority to overturn the election results.

U.S. media expect that the certification of President-elect Biden will proceed smoothly despite President Trump's opposition, as it is considered a mere formality.
