[New Year's Address] Kim Seung-yeon, Chairman of Hanwha, "Securing Future Growth Engines to Strengthen Global Competitiveness" Seung-yeon Kim, Chairman of Hanwha Group

[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Kim Seung-yeon, Chairman of Hanwha Group, stated that he will secure future growth engines and expand business capabilities and leadership on the global stage.

In his New Year's address on the 4th, Chairman Kim said, "The next 2 to 3 years will be a time of uncertainty as the landscape of the entire industry changes."

First, Chairman Kim urged to seize future growth opportunities worldwide in new businesses such as future mobility, aerospace, green hydrogen energy, and digital financial solutions. He said, "Our businesses, including defense and energy, are growing as national representative brands in the global market even at this moment," adding, "We must accelerate the pace of innovation and advance as true global leaders in fields such as K-Defense, K-Energy, and K-Finance."

Secondly, he ordered to strengthen sustainable management that creates socio-economic value to a global level.

Chairman Kim said, "Indicators such as ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) have long been established as core management principles of global companies," and added, "From a compliance perspective, we must strengthen ESG while establishing and executing strategies to enhance sustainability in all aspects of our management activities."

He emphasized, "As a global leader in the renewable energy sector, we must actively respond to climate change and accelerate environmental management to lead the carbon-zero era."

Lastly, he mentioned communication and consideration represented by 'Together Far' even in the non-face-to-face era.

Chairman Kim said, "The spread of non-face-to-face environments accelerates digital innovation but also causes problems such as emotional isolation and superficial communication," adding, "Especially at times like these, we must value relationships between people, expand co-growth management of 'Together Far,' and do our best in corporate social responsibility."

He continued, "Building a smart work environment and digital transformation must be followed by innovation that creates new methods and cultures beyond existing systems."
