Electric Vehicle Sales Reach 499,550 Units Last Year... 180,570 Units Sold in Q4 Alone
Model Y Production to Begin Soon at Shanghai Factory in China
[Asia Economy International Department Reporter] Tesla announced on the 2nd (local time) that it sold (retail) a total of 499,550 electric vehicles last year. This is almost in line with Tesla's initially presented guidance (corporate performance forecast).
Elon Musk, CEO, had projected at last year's annual shareholders' meeting that they could deliver between 477,750 and 514,500 units.

According to Tesla's Q4 report released that day, the company produced 179,757 electric vehicles in the fourth quarter and delivered 180,570 to customers. The number of deliveries in Q4 surpassed the 139,300 units in Q3 last year, marking Tesla's highest ever.
In Q4, Tesla delivered a combined total of 161,650 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles and produced 163,660 units.
For the entire last year, Tesla delivered 442,511 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles and produced 454,932 units, while delivering 57,039 Model S and Model X vehicles and producing 54,805 units.
Tesla also announced that production of the Model Y will soon begin at the Shanghai factory.
Tesla is also building new factories in Austin, Texas, and Brandenburg, Germany.
However, the company stated that these factories will need 12 to 24 months after opening to operate at maximum production capacity.
