[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] A serial killer who murdered more than 90 people in the United States has reportedly died in prison at the age of 80.

According to local media including Fox News on the 31st, Samuel Little (80), who was serving a life sentence in California, died on the 30th (local time) at a hospital in California.

The exact cause of death is to be investigated by a medical examiner, but it is presumed to be due to chronic illness related to old age.

Little, who was imprisoned in 2014 for drug offenses and was incarcerated in a Texas prison, confessed in November 2018 that he had committed a total of 93 murders.

Little is reported to have committed murders from 1970 to 2005. Of these, about 50 cases have been confirmed as true so far. He was subsequently sentenced to three consecutive life sentences without parole and transferred to a California state prison where he served his time.

Originally suffering from heart disease and diabetes, Little reportedly confessed to his past crimes late in order to request a transfer to another prison.

Little was a large man standing 190 cm tall and a former boxer. He reportedly did not use firearms or knives but overpowered and killed his victims with his bare hands. Most of the victims were drug-addicted prostitutes.

Meanwhile, the FBI released videos last year showing Little giving statements, as well as portraits of victims he confessed to killing and drew himself. According to the portraits drawn by Little at that time, most of the victims were African American women.
