Sokcho Getting Closer to Seoul... Spotlight on Lifestyle Accommodation 'Sokcho Xi Ella'

Sokcho City in Gangwon Province is becoming closer to Seoul with consecutive transportation network improvements, including roads and railways. It is now expected to establish itself as a one-step living zone beyond the half-day living zone from Seoul.

The Seoul-Yangyang Expressway was the first to open the way for the one-step living zone between Seoul and Sokcho. This road connects Seoul and the metropolitan area with Gangwon Province from Hanam, Namyangju, Yangpyeong, and Gapyeong in Gyeonggi Province to Hongcheon, Chuncheon, Sokcho, and Yangyang in Gangwon Province, running east-west. Since its full opening in June 2017, it has shortened travel time from Sokcho to Seoul to the two-hour range.

The East-West High-Speed Railway is a development project connecting the Gyeongchun Line and the Chuncheon-Sokcho section. The Chuncheon-Sokcho section, which officially started the project with the announcement of the basic plan in March, runs from Chuncheon in Gangwon Province through Hwacheon, Yanggu, Inje, and Baekdam to Sokcho. This will enable travel from Sokcho to Seoul Yongsan Station in about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

As accessibility to Seoul improves, interest in newly supplied complexes is also increasing. In August, the ‘Sokcho Lotte Castle in the Sky’ supplied in Sokcho City closed with an average competition rate of 12.39 to 1 in the first priority subscription. Earlier, ‘Sokcho The Ocean Xi’ recorded an average first priority subscription competition rate of 17.26 to 1 and reportedly completed contracts within about a month.

With growing attention on Sokcho City in Gangwon Province, the lifestyle accommodation facility ‘Sokcho Xi Ella’ is currently being supplied in the Jungang-dong area of Sokcho City. This complex, introduced by Xi S&D, a subsidiary of GS Construction, consists of one building with four basement floors and 25 above-ground floors, totaling 432 units with exclusive areas ranging from 23 to 34 square meters, designed as studio types, 1.5-room (room + bedroom), and duplex structures.

In terms of location, this complex is situated in the center of Sokcho city, allowing access to infrastructure. Convenience facilities such as Sokcho City Hall, Sokcho Post Office, Sokcho Rodeo Street, and E-Mart (Sokcho branch), as well as large medical facilities like Sokcho Medical Center under Gangwon Provincial Government, are located nearby. Sokcho Intercity Bus Terminal and Sokcho Express Bus Terminal are also close.

A station area development project is also underway around the planned KTX Sokcho Station, scheduled to open in 2026. According to the basic station area plan by Gangwon Provincial Government, the approximately 270,000 square meter site in Nohak-dong, Sokcho City, where the KTX station will be located, is expected to be reborn as a complex transfer and fisheries industry hub. In the future, this area will include a complex transfer center equipped with commercial and office facilities, as well as lodging and convention centers, and a marine food cluster.

With tourism infrastructure nearby, expectations for securing tourist demand are also high. From the complex, major tourist destinations in Sokcho such as Sokcho Tourist Fisheries Market, Abai Village, and Cheongho Beach are within walking distance, and other attractions like Yeonggeumjeong, Cheongcho Lake Park, and Seoraksan National Park are also close.

About a 6-minute drive from the complex is Yeongrangho Golf Course, and Plaza Seorak Golf Course is about 20 minutes away by car. Golf courses located in nearby Yangyang County and Goseong County are also accessible within about 30 minutes by car.

Sokcho Xi Ella has balconies installed in most units to enhance sea views and space utilization. Some units feature a two-sided open design, allowing simultaneous views of the East Sea and Seoraksan Mountain, and a park will be installed within the complex on the top floor and the second-floor idle space.

Meanwhile, the sales promotion centers for Sokcho Xi Ella are located in Bangbae-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, and Jungang-dong, Sokcho City, Gangwon Province. The expected move-in date is August 2023.
