[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) has published a lifestyle booklet for young single-person households titled 'Seongdong-eul Da (多) Alryeojulge,' in which young activists and artist youths participated in the entire process from planning to design.

This booklet was planned to reduce trial and error experienced by young single-person households when moving to a new neighborhood and to help them become independent. It features characters named 'Songjeongi' and 'Seongdongi' who communicate through SNS in a friendly manner.

The booklet, themed 'Love for Seongdong,' includes four sections: ▲ 'Seongdongipseong Seulgiroupge Doknip-hagi' (Wisely Becoming Independent in Seongdong) containing information on finding housing, garbage disposal, and home repairs ▲ 'Dongnemasil Jihyeropge Saenghwalhagi' (Living Wisely with Neighborhood Outings) introducing Seongdong's hot places and seasonal festivals ▲ 'Seongdong-e Saneunbeop Geonganghage Jeongchak-hagi' (Settling Healthily in Seongdong) with valuable health information such as safe homes and health recharge stations ▲ 'Neorang Narang Hamkke Seongjanghagi' (Growing Together with You and Me) containing youth spaces and employment/startup information.

Kim Tae-eun (34), who participated in the production, said, “There were unexpected trials and errors until young people active in various fields gathered and produced the results,” adding, “Gathering opinions with colleagues who participated in the production and working together was above all a precious opportunity for growth.”

Lee Seul-gi (30), the protagonist of the 'Songjeongi' character appearing in the booklet, said, “Although I was born and have lived in Seongdong until now, I learned a lot of previously unknown local information while researching materials,” and added, “Like the theme of the booklet, I think I have developed more affection for Seongdong.”

The booklet’s diverse information is presented in a friendly way by inserting approachable characters and illustrations that capture the sensibility of today’s young generation. A total of 5,000 copies will be distributed to local mutual real estate offices, youth facilities, and community service centers.

Mayor Jeong Won-oh said, “Beyond simply providing information, by offering young people experiences of trial and error and success, it will be an opportunity for growth for youth and practical help for those becoming independent for the first time,” and added, “We will continue to discover various policies led by youth through participatory processes to help young people’s healthy independence.”
