Special Amnesty for 117,827 People Subject to Administrative Disposition of Driver's Licenses in Incheon

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 30th that it will grant special pardons to 117,827 individuals subject to administrative sanctions on their driver's licenses within the region.

The recipients include 124 individuals whose licenses were suspended or revoked due to minor violations, and 110,559 individuals eligible for point deletions, totaling 117,827 people who will receive special pardon benefits as of midnight on the 31st.

The special pardon period applies from October 1 of last year to October 31 of this year, the designated date for the pardon policy.

However, even first-time offenders of drunk driving are excluded from this special pardon due to the associated risks and potential social condemnation. Drivers involved in fatal traffic accidents and unlicensed drivers are also excluded to raise awareness and for preventive purposes.

Additionally, individuals who committed serious traffic violations in 11 categories including hit-and-run (with casualties), reckless or retaliatory driving, drug-impaired driving, and unlicensed driving, as well as those with prior special pardons related to suspensions, revocations, or disqualification periods within the past three years, are excluded from this pardon.

Accordingly, points will be automatically deleted starting at midnight on the 31st. Furthermore, the 124 individuals who received license suspension or revocation will be exempt from the remaining sanction period, and if the revocation process is complete, they may obtain a license after completing special traffic safety education.

Those exempted from administrative sanctions on their driver's licenses will be individually notified by mail after January 4 next year. Point deletions and disqualification removals can be checked without separate notification by verifying identity on the Police Traffic Civil Service 24 website (www.efine.go.kr).

Inquiries can also be made in person or by phone at police station civil service offices or the Police Civil Service Call Center (182) on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
