[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] Lee Ji-young, an instructor teaching social studies at Etoos, has become a hot topic by revealing her bank account balance.


On the 28th, Lee Ji-young held a live broadcast titled "140,000 Subscribers Celebration Ji-young Teacher Q&A Live" on her YouTube channel.


On that day, which was her birthday, Lee Ji-young had a Q&A session with her subscribers.


Subscribers asked questions such as "Do rich people also eat ramen? Please reveal your YouTube income as well."


In response, Lee Ji-young said, "There isn't trillions of won in my account," and decided to reveal her bank account balance.


Toward the end of the broadcast, which lasted about 2 hours and 30 minutes, she said, "I will log in to my main bank and show you," adding, "I don't know why I'm showing this. Hopefully, no articles will come out about it?"


She also said, "(This account balance) does not include the real estate, stocks, or fund balances I own; this is the first time I checked it by logging in today."

The bank app account balance showed an 11-digit number, estimated to be around 13 billion won.


In the video, the instructor said, "Since 2014, my annual salary has never dropped below 10 billion won," and "My cumulative donations exceed 5 billion won."


When asked if she has many cars, she replied, "I think I have more than 10," and said, "I own Lamborghini, Ferrari, McLaren, and others."


Regarding watches, she answered, "The watch I wear the most is a Rolex, worth 47.5 million won."


The live broadcast surpassed 5,000 viewers, and after the video was released, positive comments were posted.


Netizens responded with comments such as "A model of self-made success," "Awesome. Being the top in her field and maintaining it for years is even more impressive," "I want to emulate her," "Watching a teacher who does her best every day gives me strength daily," "Watching the live broadcast from start to finish made me respect her even more," and "So cool, respectable, and someone I want to resemble."


Meanwhile, Lee Ji-young graduated from the Department of Ethics Education at Seoul National University College of Education and completed her doctoral course at the same graduate school. In 2012 and 2014, she received the Best Instructor Award for Social & Culture and Life and Ethics from EBS, and in 2018, she received the EBS Merit Award and was recruited by Etoos.


Currently, her cumulative online paid and free students number 2.5 million, making her the number one star instructor in the social studies field.
