SMAC Implements 'CyberReason EDR' in Major Financial Holding Company: "Supply to All Affiliates"

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Smac announced on the 29th that it will officially proceed with supplying Cybereason’s ‘Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solution’ to the largest financial group in Korea.

Last November, Smac signed supply contracts with a bank and a financial investment company, both subsidiaries of a major domestic financial holding company. Currently, implementation has begun for these two companies, and sequential deployment projects are planned for all subsidiaries of the financial holding company in the future.

It is known that the scale of PCs subject to EDR across all subsidiaries of the major financial holding company is approximately 90,000 units. Technical capability to effectively manage such a vast number of endpoints is essential. Not only product performance but also stability must be flawless, and continuous management of endpoint security through automation is necessary. The key factor in product selection was that Cybereason’s technology is most suitable for the company’s environment and is judged to be excellent in terms of product performance and stability.

Recently, Cybereason EDR has expanded its application beyond PCs and servers to the mobile sector. Cybereason is strengthening its position by newly launching the Cybereason MDR (Managed Detect & Response) service, a mobile EDR solution. The MDR service detects and responds to cybersecurity threats occurring on mobile devices such as iOS and Android, operating as a service-provision business model rather than a solution sale.

Unlike existing EDR solutions that only provided sales, implementation, and technical support, the MDR service also offers operation and analysis services. The vendor directly manages solution operation, and as security incidents have diversified across PCs, mobiles, tablets, etc., the market potential is expected to grow further.
