Guro-gu Hosts 'Online Youth Festival'

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) is hosting the ‘Guro Youth Festival’.

Guro-gu announced on the 29th, “We are holding an online ‘Youth Festival’ to provide young people with an opportunity to freely express their dreams and passions and communicate together.”

This year’s ‘Guro Youth Festival’ will be held from the 30th to the 27th of next month in a non-face-to-face format using an online platform. Various programs that youth can directly participate in will be operated under the theme of ‘Global Citizen.’

First, the ‘Global Citizen Parade,’ where participants join as 3D characters, will decorate the main screen. Every year, about 1,000 young people performed dazzling performances and marched along Guro Jungang-ro in the ‘Gilnori Festival.’

However, this year, due to COVID-19 making offline events impossible, the format was switched to online.

By selecting hair, clothing, and placard content, participants can create a 3D character and automatically join the parade. This method encourages youth interest and enthusiasm by allowing them to create their own unique characters expressing their individuality, similar to enjoying an online game.

Additionally, the area around the district office intersection, where the Gilnori Festival was usually held, has been recreated online to enhance realism.

Online booths where participants can showcase their overflowing talents and skills will also be prepared.

Programs such as ‘Guro TV Star,’ featuring various performances regardless of genre including magic, musical performances, and hip-hop, as well as ‘Dancing Show’ and ‘Room Karaoke’ will be held.

Other programs include the ‘Student Science Festival,’ showcasing science club activities by school, the ‘Youth Volunteer Star Awards’ sharing excellent volunteer activity cases, the ‘COVID-19 Response Room Anything Contest’ introducing wise daily life during the pandemic, and ‘e-Sports,’ broadcasting online game league matches.

In addition, photos and drawings themed on global citizenship, youth autonomous organization activities, and videos introducing village educational institutions will be uploaded.

Events such as a global citizen campaign SNS photo certification and stamp collection through program participation will be held, offering small prizes.

The festival will conclude with an online closing ceremony on the 27th. The closing ceremony will feature announcements of award-winning teams by program, highlight video screenings, and more. It will be held without an audience and broadcast live on YouTube.

A Guro-gu official said, “We hope this ‘Guro Youth Festival’ will become a place of harmony that connects schools and communities and brings generations together,” and added, “We look forward to the interest and participation of many people.”
