[Accident] An Era of Paradigm Shift... Who Will Be the Leading Figure of Green Mobility in the Republic of Korea?

'2021 Korea Green Mobility Awards' to be held on January 26 next year

Asia Economy will hold the '2021 Korea Green Mobility Awards' on January 26, next year.

This year, the Korean automobile industry has gone through significant growing pains. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Korea's automobile production scale returned to the world’s top 5 for the first time in five years since 2015. Domestic automakers continued production even in critical crisis situations, supported by the domestic market. However, this does not mean that the indicators of the Korean automobile industry itself have improved. Although domestic automakers performed better than their global competitors, Korea’s annual automobile production this year is expected to decrease by 11.4% to 3.5 million units compared to last year. This is the worst performance in 11 years since the 2009 financial crisis.

The outlook for next year is also expected to be challenging. Advanced global automobile countries have started competing for leadership by shifting paradigms toward green mobility, represented by electric vehicles and hydrogen vehicles, based on their governments’ support. In response, the Korean automobile industry is also aiming for a V-shaped recovery by improving its structure toward green mobility. The silent war for the next 100 years of the automobile industry is approaching.

Asia Economy established the 'Korea Green Car Awards' in 2011, the first in domestic media to select and honor companies and individuals who contributed to the development of the green car industry, and has held it annually. On the 10th anniversary, with the will to embark on a new future, the award ceremony’s name was changed to the 'Korea Green Mobility Awards.'

Specially, this award ceremony will include a lecture introducing government policies related to carbon neutrality currently being promoted. However, the ceremony may be held online in accordance with the government’s social distancing guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

We hope for much interest and support from all sectors to honor the contributions of companies and individuals advancing the domestic green mobility industry and to contribute to realizing a green mobility powerhouse.
