Pilot Test at Emart Seongsu and Seosuwon Stores
Use at Designated Pickup Locations in Parking Lots
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee]SSG.com is piloting a contactless pickup service in the form of ‘Click & Collect,’ where customers can order online and pick up their products at a nearby Emart store.
SSG.com announced on the 27th that it has launched a new ‘store pickup service’ at two Emart locations, Seongsu and Seosuwon, allowing customers to order online and pick up their products at designated spots within the stores. The beta test began on the 23rd.
If the address entered on SSG.com is near Emart Seongsu or Seosuwon, customers can select store pickup only for ‘Ssg Delivery’ products, and the service is available for same-day orders and same-day pickups. Orders can be placed daily from midnight to 4 PM, excluding store holidays, and customers can visit the designated pickup locations within the Emart customer parking lots between noon and 8 PM to collect their products.
The advantage of this service is that customers can pick up products ordered online directly at the store in a contactless manner. From the first day of the pilot on the 23rd through the 26th, the number of orders per store ranged from 10 to 20 per day, and customers have positively evaluated the service, suggesting that order volumes are expected to gradually increase.
The introduction of SSG.com’s store pickup service is an attempt to enhance customer satisfaction through online and offline synergy. It is also noteworthy as a contactless shopping service that minimizes person-to-person contact amid strengthened quarantine measures.
Cheolmin Ahn, Executive Director of SCM at SSG.com, said, “We started the store pickup pilot service to meet customer needs,” adding, “We will strive to build an omnichannel system suited to the untact era.”
