Preemptive Measures to Completely Block Additional Infection Sources
Movement Path of Confirmed Employee in Dream Tower Building Unrelated to Guests
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters (Jeju) Reporter Park Chang-won] Lotte Tour Development announced on the 26th that all 122 contacts, including hotel staff related to employee A of the Grand Hyatt Jeju at Jeju Dream Tower, who tested positive for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) on the 23rd, received negative results in diagnostic tests.
Lotte Tour Development reviewed the situation via closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the 18th to 19th, two days before employee A went on vacation, and found that there was no overlap in movement paths with guests, concluding there is no concern for additional infections, and is operating the hotel facilities normally.
Earlier, Lotte Tour Development, in cooperation with Jeju quarantine authorities, thoroughly tracked employee A’s movements through CCTV and conducted comprehensive investigations on not only employees in the same department but all staff who might have had any overlapping movement paths, taking proactive measures.
Additionally, on the 20th, while employee A was on vacation, when their spouse began showing mild symptoms, they were instructed to stay at home. After confirming the spouse’s positive diagnosis on the 22nd, an emergency situation room was activated, and immediate internal disinfection of the building and staff was carried out to prevent further infections.
Lotte Tour Development explained that Grand Hyatt Jeju employees regularly wear masks not only in each workplace but also in offices, and if employees or their families show any abnormal COVID-19 symptoms, they immediately report to the company and switch to remote work.
Within Dream Tower, where Grand Hyatt Jeju is located, state-of-the-art thermal imaging cameras continuously check the temperatures of all customers and staff.
Furthermore, disinfectants are installed throughout various facilities such as elevators and restaurants, and upon entering restaurants, temperatures are measured again and entry logs are verified via QR codes, implementing multiple layers of measures to ensure thorough quarantine.
Meanwhile, through these COVID-19 related efforts, Grand Hyatt Jeju has obtained the GBAC STAR certification, conducted by the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) and hosted by the International Sanitary Supply Association (ISSA).
