[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] On the 26th, Tokyo Metropolis (東京都), the capital of Japan, reported around 900 new cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in a single day.

Tokyo announced that 949 new COVID-19 infections were reported that day. This number surpassed the previous record of 888 cases set on the 24th, breaking the record in just two days. As a result, the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Tokyo increased to 55,851.
