[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] With the Galaxy Z Fold3 equipped with the S Pen, there are forecasts that the display size will decrease. There is also speculation that the low-priced foldable phone will be added not to the Galaxy Z Fold series but to the Galaxy Z Flip.

On the 24th (local time), Ross Young, founder and CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), explained on Twitter, "The main display size of the Galaxy Z Fold3 will change from 7.6 inches to 7.55 inches, and the cover display will change from 6.23 inches to 6.21 inches," adding, "because more space is needed for the S Pen."

As the Galaxy Z Fold3 is equipped with the S Pen, it is expected that the display size will be reduced to create space for the S Pen storage slot. Efforts to enhance durability to utilize the S Pen on the display will also be carried out simultaneously. It is expected to use a thicker Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) material than the previous model to withstand the pressure of the stylus pen.

No Tae-moon, head of the wireless business division, emphasized 'foldable diversification' in his article, and next year, the foldable lineup is expected to expand to low-priced models as well. It is predicted that a low-priced model will be added to the vertically folding Z Flip series, and it will be released in two types.

CEO Ross Young explained, "The low-priced Galaxy Z Flip Lite and Galaxy Z Flip 3 will be released at 6.7 inches, which is 0.03 inches larger than the previous model (6.67 inches)," and "the Z Flip series supports a 120Hz refresh rate and LTPO."

Industry insiders expect Samsung Electronics to release more than three foldable smartphones next year. The Galaxy Z Flip3 and Galaxy Z Fold3 are predictable lineups, but the third device is still shrouded in mystery. Ross Young predicted that the 'Galaxy Z Flip Lite' will be released. The price of the Galaxy Z Flip3 is also expected to be cheaper than the previous model.

IT media outlet PhoneArena explained, "The Galaxy Z Flip3 is scheduled to be released in the second quarter, and the Galaxy Z Fold3 will be unveiled in June."

As Samsung Electronics' foldable lineup expands next year, the foldable phone market is expected to grow more than twice compared to this year. According to market research firm Counterpoint Research, global foldable phone shipments are expected to reach 2.8 million units this year, with Samsung Electronics shipping 2.04 million units, capturing a 73% market share. Counterpoint forecasts that the foldable phone market will grow to 5.6 million units next year and 17 million units by 2022.
