Ski Resort Crowded... 'Today's Amusement Park Scene' [Image source = Twitter capture]

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Eun-young] The government's special year-end and New Year quarantine measures, which have been in effect from the 24th until January 3rd, have led to the suspension of operations at winter sports facilities such as ski resorts. Meanwhile, scenes of crowded amusement parks have been shared on online communities.

On the 29th, various online communities including Twitter shared photos with the caption "This is the scene at **** today," sparking public attention.

The photos show people densely packed together wearing masks and heavy coats. The image of a crowded plaza sharply contrasts with the government's recommendations for 1-meter social distancing and bans on gatherings of five or more people.

As amusement parks were excluded from the government's special quarantine measures, concerns have grown online with comments such as "It wouldn't be surprising if an outbreak happens anytime."

One netizen responded, "Why block ski resorts but not amusement parks?" and "People who don't go feel like fools."

Meanwhile, Everland, a representative amusement park, operated today from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Christmas Day, in contrast to the suspension of winter sports facilities like ski resorts since the 24th. Amusement parks and theme parks were excluded from the government's year-end and New Year special quarantine business suspension targets.

However, in the spirit of social distancing, visitors are guided to maintain spacing while lining up for tickets and at the main entrance gate. Entry is restricted for customers with a body temperature of 37.5 degrees Celsius or higher or those not wearing masks. Additionally, information collection and mandatory registration are required upon entry to game rooms or performance venues.
