Opening of Nowon-gu Youth Communication Platform 'Cheong-A-Jang'

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Nowon-gu (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) operates a dedicated internet platform for adolescents to healthily release their energy amid the many activity restrictions caused by COVID-19.

“Cheong-A-Jang (Cheongsonyeon-eun Areumdawoomyeon Jangttaeng-iya),” a YouTube channel, is a place where teenagers share their thoughts through videos and writings.

When videos are uploaded here, teenagers express empathy through comments. You can see various daily lives of teenagers in the pandemic era, such as vlogs capturing how they live nowadays, interviews sharing changed routines and difficulties, and scenes of them enduring tough environments while having fun.

There are also field explorations. Fourteen members appointed as Nowon Youth Reporters introduce various places such as Gyeongchun Line Bulbit Garden, Seoul Youth Center, and Nowon Station date courses.

Occasional events are also held. Currently, until January 31, outstanding comments are selected and Cheong-A-Jang souvenirs including masking tape, character postcards, and stickers are given.

Cheong-A-Jang started in 2018 as an offline youth market. It connected youth clubs in the Nowon area with professionals working on-site as mentors. Through collaboration with them, technical education was supported, and the results could be directly sold and promoted, involving 23 teams and about 70 participants. In 2019, beyond simple sales, talents were showcased through stages and events, achieving participation of 39 teams and about 150 people over two sessions.

This year, it transformed into an activity that talks about how teenagers are living through COVID-19 and supports and encourages all youth.

Video content reflecting diverse voices of teenagers will be continuously uploaded, and on the Cheong-A-Jang homepage, all activities of Cheong-A-Jang in 2020, including its planning intent, can be viewed at a glance.

Currently, Nowon-gu has 78 clubs active in themes such as dance, singing, science, and history, and 71 youth clubs engaged in activities to change the community. The district continuously supports these diverse activities through various projects.

Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, said, “Even in this difficult time for activities, it is admirable to see teenagers constantly encouraging each other and challenging new things. We will spare no effort at the district level for the proper growth of the future generation, the youth.”
