[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Noh Hyun-song) received 10 million won in local hope contribution funds from the chairpersons of five Saemaeul Geumgo branches in the area at the district mayor's office at 11 a.m. on the 23rd.

The donation will be used as a scholarship fund to support the academic pursuits of low-income students in the region through the Gangseo-gu Scholarship Foundation.

Since signing the local hope contribution project agreement in December 2010, the district and Saemaeul Geumgo have carried out projects needed by local residents, including ▲establishing scholarship funds ▲creating the Gangseo Dullegil trail ▲improving small library facilities.

The total amount donated by Saemaeul Geumgo over the past 10 years reaches 235 million won.

District Mayor Noh Hyun-song said, "The donation will serve as a foundation for students in difficult circumstances to nurture their dreams and hopes," adding, "We will continue to promote projects necessary for neighbors in need within the community through cooperation with Saemaeul Geumgo."
