Woojin Acquires Woojin Electronite Sensor Division..."Strengthening Semiconductor TC Business"

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Woojin announced on the 23rd that it has decided to acquire the sensor division from Woojin Electronite. Once the deal is finalized on the 30th, the acquisition process, including personnel transfers, will begin.

Woojin Electronite, which was spun off from Woojin in 2006, is a company that manufactures steel sensors, temperature sensors, and precision voltmeters. In 2015, Woojin sold its stake to Heraeus Electronite, a Belgian steel sensor company.

Woojin is a specialized company in industrial measuring instruments for various industries such as nuclear power plants, steel, and plants. It supplies thermocouple (T/C) temperature sensors used in the production processes of the largest semiconductor companies in Korea.

Thermocouples for semiconductors are used to precisely control temperature during the diffusion process, where wafers are doped. Due to the nature of the semiconductor industry, reducing defect rates greatly impacts profitability, making temperature control crucial.

A company official stated, “With the semiconductor industry boom expanding the related materials, equipment, and parts markets, we decided to acquire the business to expand our operations. This acquisition is expected to not only strengthen the capabilities of the temperature sensor division but also create synergies that improve profitability.”
