[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] Thinkware's stock price is on the rise. This appears to be due to the fact that Apple announced its challenge in the autonomous vehicle business, highlighting that its subsidiary, iNavi Systems' navigation system 'iNavi Air,' was applied to Apple CarPlay for the first time in Korea.
At 10:23 AM on the 23rd, Thinkware's stock price recorded 12,000 KRW, up 5.26% from the previous day. The navigation system 'iNavi' seems to have gained attention following the news that Apple is entering the autonomous vehicle business.
According to major foreign media, Apple plans to produce autonomous vehicles by 2024. Previously, in 2014, it launched a vehicle project called 'Project Titan.' However, the project slowed down as Apple focused on other areas such as software. It is reported that the vehicle project has progressed again since last year. In particular, Apple is known to be entering the autonomous electric vehicle market based on its own designed battery.
Following this news, investor interest appears to have concentrated on Thinkware, which was the first in Korea to apply mobile navigation to Apple CarPlay. Thinkware's subsidiary, iNavi Systems, extensively revamped its cloud-based mobile navigation service 'iNavi Air' and launched it in the first half of last year. Additionally, the realistic 3D aerial map 'Extreme Air 3D,' provided by the existing iNavi navigation, was made available for use in Apple CarPlay mode for the first time in Korea.
