[2021 Regular Admission Special] Samyuk University, 10% Additional Points for Natural Science Math Type A Scores

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Samyook University will select a total of 324 students in the regular admission rounds Ga and Da. The number of selected students increased by 16.1% from 279 last year.

Students are recruited through a single selection process based on the CSAT in all departments. Special admissions (rural, opportunity equalization, specialized high schools, Seohae 5 Islands) are only selected if there are unregistered students in the early admission rounds.

In the general admission, general departments select new students based on 100% CSAT scores. The Department of Physical Education selects students with 60% CSAT and 40% practical skills. The Departments of Music and Art & Design reflected 20% school records until last year, but from this year's regular admission, they select students with 20% CSAT and 80% practical skills.

CSAT scores reflect four areas: Korean, Mathematics, English, and Inquiry (1 subject). The number of inquiry subjects has been reduced from 2 last year to 1 this year. It can also be substituted with a second foreign language or Chinese characters. The weighting of CSAT areas is applied as follows: for humanities and arts departments, Korean 35%, Mathematics 25%, English 20%, Inquiry 20%; for natural sciences departments, Korean 25%, Mathematics 35%, English 20%, Inquiry 20%. English scores are applied differentially from 100 points for grade 1 to 0 points for grade 9 (60 points for grade 8) according to the school's conversion table. For all departments, applicants who submit Korean history scores receive up to 5 additional points (grades 1 to 3) added to their total score.

Cross-application is possible without distinction between humanities and sciences. However, among applicants to natural science departments (Nursing, Architecture (5-year program), Animal Life Resources, Physical Therapy, Health Management, Food and Nutrition, Department of Intelligent Information Convergence, Department of Computer Engineering, Department of Chemical and Biological Sciences, Department of Environmental Design and Horticulture), those who took Mathematics Type Ga will have 10% of their acquired score added to their mathematics score when calculating CSAT results.

New departments, the Department of Intelligent Information Convergence and the Department of Aviation Tourism Foreign Languages, are recruiting new students. A total of 29 students will be selected in the Ga round of this regular admission.

The Department of Aviation Tourism Foreign Languages is a department that integrates the existing Chinese Language and Japanese Language departments. It cultivates convergent talents with expertise in aviation and tourism service fields based on foreign language skills and East Asian cultural knowledge. Eight students will be selected in the Ga round of the regular admission.
