Na Kyung-won Releases Immigration and Birth Certificates... "Hoping for a Reasonable Korea"

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Former People Power Party lawmaker Na Kyung-won responded to allegations of 'birth tourism' by revealing her immigration records from pregnancy to childbirth and the birth certificate issued by Seoul National University Hospital.

On the 23rd, Na posted on Facebook, "At a time when we barely have enough time to worry about issues like securing vaccines, I can only sigh at the reality of having to respond to such absurd conspiracy theories one by one," and disclosed these documents.

She said, "When the Cho Kuk scandal erupted last year, they needed false allegations to divert attention. So, certain forces systematically spread and amplified the rumor that I gave birth through birth tourism at a postpartum care center in LA, USA. But upon investigation, I found that the care center opened long after I gave birth to my son, so honestly, I thought such rumors were not even worth responding to."

Na added, "However, it seems my expectations were too high," and criticized, "Even the ruling party, the (Democratic) Party, joined in raising the birth tourism allegations by issuing statements. This is exactly the level and reality of the Democratic Party."

Earlier, on the 21st, she had revealed a medical opinion letter stamped by the director of Seoul National University Hospital. However, as doubts were raised saying "I don't believe it," she disclosed additional documents. Na said, "The medical opinion includes the license number and name of the attending physician who wrote it, the dates of my hospital admission and discharge for childbirth, my son's birth weight, gestational age, and delivery method in detail. If even this document cannot be trusted, then what in the world can we believe in this world?"

Na also mentioned that a very small number of people are spreading conspiracy theories, such as the rumor that she wrote 'Daehan Minguk' (Republic of Korea) in the guestbook during her visit to the Chongqing Provisional Government on Liberation Day last year, saying, "Such indiscriminate conspiracy theories and false information are making our Republic of Korea sick," and expressed her heartfelt hope that "a common-sense Korea will prevail."
