[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] The Seocho District Council (Chairperson Kim Ansook) announced on the 17th that it achieved the highest grade of Level 2 among Seoul metropolitan district councils in the '2020 Local Council Integrity Evaluation' released by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
This comprehensive local council integrity assessment was conducted on a total of 65 local councils, including 17 metropolitan councils and 48 basic councils. It integrates survey results on council activities and operations evaluated by council staff, economic and social organizations, experts, and local residents, along with objective data such as anti-corruption efforts and the occurrence of corruption incidents.
This year’s comprehensive local council integrity score was 6.73 out of 10, an increase of 0.5 points from the previous year. By category, the council activities score, which measures fairness and transparency of council activities, was 6.74 (+0.46), and the council operations score, which measures appropriateness of budget execution and formulation as well as anti-corruption efforts, was 6.76 (+0.53), both showing improvement compared to the previous year.
In particular, the Seocho District Council scored 7.32 out of 10 in overall integrity, surpassing the average of 6.73 for all local councils. By category, the council activities section scored 7.54, and the council operations section scored 7.15.
Chairperson Kim Ansook stated, “I am pleased that the Seocho District Council was evaluated as the highest grade in integrity among Seoul metropolitan district councils. I believe this is the result of the united efforts of my fellow council members and the secretariat staff, and we will continue to do our best to spread a culture of integrity.”
