Job and Investment Fair Held... Celebrating Achievements Including Commendation of Outstanding Cities, Counties, and Companies
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province held the ‘2020 Jeollanam-do Job and Investment Attraction Festival’ event and announced on the 22nd a comprehensive summary of this year’s achievements in job creation and investment attraction.
The event was attended by Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeonnam Province; Kim Han-jong, Chairman of the Jeonnam Provincial Council; Kim Jong-sik, Mayor of Mokpo; Kang In-gyu, Mayor of Naju; Jeong Hyun-bok, Mayor of Gwangyang; Jeong Jong-sun, County Governor of Jangheung; Kim Jun-seong, County Governor of Yeonggwang; representatives of excellent companies; and contributors to job creation and investment attraction.
Due to COVID-19, the number of attendees was minimized, and instead, a mobile application was used to connect the venue with the awarded cities/counties and companies, conveying the atmosphere on site and facilitating mutual communication.
At the event, a certificate awarding ceremony was held for 20 outstanding companies in the province that worked hard to create good jobs.
In addition, the event celebrated the outstanding cities/counties in job creation and investment attraction, including 13 cities/counties, as well as institutions related to jobs and representatives of investment attraction companies, with an awards ceremony.
The companies certified as excellent job creators include Songwon ENG, JK Heavy Industries, Seungjin Engineering, Doowon Industry, Sammi Metal, Udoong, Ceraco, Kuroensis, Ilseong Industry, Joongang EMC, Geumseong ENC, Coop Nongsan, Biocorp, Food One, Boseong Polytech, JNP, Low Carbon, Wonkwang Power, Hansarang FS, and Nuri English Cooperative Corporation.
The outstanding cities/counties for job creation were awarded as follows: Grand Prize to Mokpo City; Excellence Awards to Naju City and Yeonggwang County; Merit Awards to Haenam County and Yeongam County; Encouragement Awards to Goheung County and Jangheung County.
The outstanding cities/counties for investment attraction were awarded as follows: Excellence Awards to Gwangyang City, Yeonggwang County, and Jangheung County; Merit Awards to Mokpo City, Damyang County, and Jindo County; Encouragement Awards to Yeosu City, Wando County, and Gokseong County.
The province achieved significant results in job creation and investment attraction even amid the COVID-19 situation this year.
It was selected as a nationwide excellent local government for job creation for six consecutive years, receiving government recognition for its job-centered provincial administration. Regarding the Jeonnam-type win-win job model, the ‘8.2GW Large-scale Offshore Wind Power Complex Project,’ it laid the groundwork for project promotion by forming a 4.1GW consortium, signing a win-win agreement, and establishing a public-private consultative body.
Also, in the government’s representative job project, the ‘Region-led Youth Job Project,’ it ranked first nationwide in project volume for three consecutive years.
In investment attraction, it signed investment agreements with a total of 245 companies, including the Yeosu Myodo LNG Hub Terminal and a semiconductor cleaning hydrogen peroxide production plant, amounting to 4.9 trillion KRW, creating about 8,000 jobs.
Along with this, to establish a foundation for attracting future-oriented advanced companies and secure investment attraction competitiveness superior to other cities and provinces, the special incentive limit for large-scale investment companies was expanded from the existing 10 billion KRW to up to 100 billion KRW.
Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeonnam Province, said, “Despite the difficult domestic and international economic situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I sincerely thank the company representatives and officials who worked hard for job creation and investment attraction this year.” He added, “Jeonnam Province will walk the path of innovation and growth by communicating with local residents to make Jeonnam a good place for companies and a good place to work.”
