Replacing Old Lighting with LED Lights for 50 Vulnerable Households
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] The Gwangyang City Community Security Council (co-chairmen Kim Myung-won and Lee Jae-ho) is conducting a replacement of old lighting for 50 vulnerable households in cooperation with the POSCO Firefly Talent Volunteer Group (leader Jung Dong-min) until the 28th.
The recipients were selected based on recommendations from the community security councils of 12 eup, myeon, and dong districts and related organizations. The council and volunteer group are visiting the selected households in person to relocate exposed hazardous electrical fixtures and replace them with bright LED lighting.
Additionally, they are identifying households using broken lighting due to financial difficulties and replacing them with LED lights to reduce electricity bills and enable living under bright lighting.
Lee Jae-ho, the private sector chairman of the Gwangyang City Community Security Council, said, “Due to the spread of COVID-19, we avoided projects requiring gatherings and planned projects that can be done on a small scale. This project, unlike previous ones, approaches from a proactive and preventive perspective and is expected to greatly contribute to improving the quality of life for vulnerable groups.”
Kim Jong-ho, head of the Resident Welfare Division, said, “Despite the difficult situation caused by COVID-19, we are grateful to the Community Security Council and the Firefly Volunteer Group for discovering new projects for vulnerable groups and helping them live in better environments.”
