Suncheon-si Reports 3 Additional COVID-19 Cases... Total Now 186


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] On the early morning of the 22nd, three members of a family in Suncheon City were confirmed positive for COVID-19 with an unclear infection route.


With this, Suncheon City has recorded a total of 186 confirmed cases, including 113 cases confirmed since the 7th of last month, among which 2 were overseas entrants.


Patient No. 184 in Suncheon began showing symptoms on the 19th, was tested the day before, and confirmed positive. This patient visited Seomyeon Dongsan Church and Boseong Beolgyo.


Patient No. 185 is the spouse of patient No. 184, who began showing symptoms the day before and also visited Seomyeon Dongsan Church.


Patient No. 186 is the child of patient No. 184 and is a high school student.


The patient wore a mask and used city buses No. 990 and 991, and visited Seomyeon Dongsan Church.


Suncheon City has set up mobile screening clinics at Seomyeon Dongsan Church and the relevant high school, conducting tests on about 40 people at Dongsan Church and 676 students and staff of the 1st and 3rd grades, excluding the 2nd grade who attended online classes.


Another child of patient No. 184 tested negative, but the elementary school attended by this child has switched all students to emergency remote classes.


Suncheon City has notified the relevant local governments about movements outside the city, secured CCTV footage to analyze contacts, and plans to disclose necessary movement routes for epidemiological investigation through the city hall website and disaster safety text messages.


A health center official from Suncheon City stated, “The situation is very serious with daily nationwide COVID-19 confirmed cases reaching 1,000.” They added, “We urge everyone to have a sense of crisis that infection can occur anywhere nationwide, cancel Christmas and year-end gatherings and travel, and conduct religious activities online.”
