[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Yangsan City in Gyeongnam announced on the 22nd that Samho District and Junam District were selected for the Urban Regeneration New Deal project hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

Accordingly, the city will receive 20 billion KRW in national funding to revitalize the declining Samho District and Junam District.

Seochang-dong Samho District plans to revitalize the local economy, which has been depressed due to the decline of Seochang Market, overcome the crisis of key local industries, and maximize the effects of the urban regeneration project by restoring the identity of the Ulsang area through cultural exchanges among residents.

Soju-dong Junam District, surrounded by industrial complexes, will implement the project aiming to improve residents' poor housing conditions by creating a community hub and expanding the insufficient living SOC facilities within the village to enhance residents' welfare.

Mayor Kim Il-kwon said, “Following the Northern District and Singi District, the selection of these two districts in the public contest is a great achievement made possible through public-private cooperation,” adding, “We will strive to ensure successful urban regeneration through revitalizing the local economies of Samho and Junam Districts and continuously strengthening residents' capabilities.”
