[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyungil] Hana Card announced on the 22nd that it has signed a strategic business agreement with insurtech startup Smallticket to support financial and insurance benefits for delivery platform workers.
Smallticket is recognized for innovatively covering new risk areas in the mobility sector, having launched the first hourly motorcycle insurance in Korea in 2019.
The two companies plan to share and utilize their respective capabilities and experiences to protect delivery platform workers from risks and promote their welfare. Smallticket plans to provide various services, including insurance subscription support, to delivery platform workers through the 'Rider Sesang' section of the Hana Members application, and will establish a cooperative relationship with Hana Card to conduct joint promotions.
Hana Card offers a service called Rider Sesang in the Hana Members app. Rider Sesang contains diverse and useful information for delivery platform workers, and includes a subscription service that, for a monthly fee of 9,990 KRW, provides fuel discounts worth 15,000 KRW and compensation for mobile phone repair costs, making it an ideal benefit for delivery platform workers who frequently refuel and experience mobile phone damage due to the nature of the delivery business.
Jung Sungmin, Head of Digital Business Division at Hana Card, said, "Through the business agreement with Smallticket, services for delivery platform workers have been further strengthened," adding, "Based on the success case of the delivery platform, we plan to expand our business area to the gig economy market in the future to provide practical help for the financial lives of the financially marginalized."
