[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Joo Deok, head of nursing at Jeonnam National University Hospital, was recently elected president of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Hospital Nurses Association.
The Gwangju Hospital Nurses Association held its 31st regular general meeting on the 17th at the Myunghak Hall of Jeonnam National University College of Medicine and announced on the 22nd that Joo Deok, who was the sole candidate, was elected as the next president.
The term of office is two years, until 2022.
The Hospital Nurses Association is a regional representative nurses' group consisting of 5,804 members from 63 medical institutions in the Gwangju area.
President Joo Deok began nursing work at Jeonnam National University Hospital in 1985 and has held key positions such as head nurse of internal and surgical wards, team leader of the medical quality management office, emergency nursing team leader, ward director, head of nursing at Hwasun Jeonnam National University Hospital, and this year was appointed head of nursing at Jeonnam National University Hospital.
Demonstrating outstanding leadership, President Joo has emphasized five nursing work goals: ▲ warm and dignified nursing demonstrating professionalism and empathy ▲ vigilant nursing prioritizing patient safety ▲ nursing that grows and leads change through nursing competency development ▲ collaborative nursing to enhance internal and external customer experience ▲ practicing green nursing to protect the environment and the planet.
He stated, “I will work to firmly expand the identity of nurses and aim for autonomous yet responsible work to lead a happy nursing organization,” adding, “I will do my best to promote friendship and harmony among members in the future.”
