Largest Government Award in the Energy Sector... Chairman Kim and 110 Contributors Receive Honors
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Kim Young-hoon, Chairman of Daesung Holdings, received the Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit at the '2020 Korea Energy Awards.' This is the largest government award in the energy sector.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 22nd that it presented the '2020 Korea Energy Awards' to individuals who contributed to improving energy efficiency and developing the new and renewable energy industry.
Since 2018, the Korea Energy Efficiency Awards (awarded since 1975) and the Korea New and Renewable Energy Awards (awarded since 2007) have been integrated and presented together.
This year, the Korea Energy Awards were given to 110 people, including Kim Young-hoon of Daesung Holdings.
Chairman Kim was the first in Korea to introduce a high-efficiency district-type collective energy facility in a new town residential area. He also promoted a landfill gas resource recovery project that captures methane gas to supply heating fuel.
He also contributed to the successful hosting and domestic attraction of the 'World Energy Congress,' the world's largest energy event.
Yoo Jae-yeol, Executive Director (Head of Korea Business Division) at Hanwha Q CELLS, received the Iron Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit. Executive Director Yoo led the domestic supply of world-class high-quality solar modules and achieved the number one market share in Malaysia's solar module market.
Kang Jeom-gi, Executive Director at Hyundai Motor Company, received the Stone Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit. Executive Director Kang contributed to the world's first mass-produced hydrogen fuel cell vehicle launch.
Four individuals?Jung Su-won, Head of District Heating Technology Headquarters; Choi Moon-hong, CEO of Shinil E&C; Jung Jong-soo, CEO of Sale Technology; and Woo Hang-soo, Director of Ulsan Technopark?received the Industrial Service Merit Medal.
An official from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said, "It is significant in that it rewards those who contributed to improving energy efficiency and spreading new and renewable energy, which are key means for carbon neutrality and energy transition."
