[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Seo Chun-soo, the mayor of Hamyang County, Gyeongnam, urged special caution at the executive meeting in the third week of December, noting that recent severe cold and dry weather have led to a series of residential fires.

Hamyang County, Gyeongnam, held an executive meeting in the county office's large conference room, chaired by Mayor Seo, where reports on important pending projects by each department were presented, and cooperation among departments was secured to ensure smooth project progress.

On this day, Mayor Seo said, “During winter, when the use of household heating devices such as electric heaters, electric mats, and wood boilers increases, please do your best in pre-inspections and publicity to protect the safety of county residents from fires. Due to the continued dry weather, there are many cases of wildfires and fires caused by arson such as burning, so special caution is required.”

He continued regarding the third wave of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), “As there have been no cases within the county, the atmosphere may become somewhat relaxed, but we must tighten it and thoroughly implement quarantine measures. Public officials should lead by example by wearing masks, washing hands, refraining from year-end and New Year gatherings, and strictly adhering to quarantine rules,” he emphasized.

He also ordered thorough measures for preventing the spread of livestock infectious diseases such as avian influenza, meticulous year-end project completion, early execution, and preparation for securing national and provincial funds for 2022.

Mayor Seo said, “Although the year-end is busy with tasks such as responding to COVID-19 and livestock infectious diseases, a solid conclusion is important. Also, please make efforts to carry out administration that residents can feel directly through thorough preparation for next year’s projects.”
