[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] Jung Il-hoon (26), a member of the group BTOB, was recently revealed to have been handed over to the prosecution on charges of repeatedly smoking marijuana.

The Metropolitan Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 21st that Jung and his accomplices were sent to the prosecution in July on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act.

According to the police, Jung is known to have purchased marijuana using cryptocurrency about 4 to 5 years ago. Although he used the marijuana himself, a friend purchased it on his behalf. During the police investigation, drug substances were detected in Jung's hair and other samples.

His agency, Cube Entertainment, released a statement on the same day acknowledging, "As of today, it has been confirmed that Jung Il-hoon was summoned and is under investigation by the authorities on suspicion of smoking marijuana."

They added, "We feel a heavy sense of responsibility for causing concern to many people and will faithfully fulfill our duties until the end so that he can sincerely cooperate with the ongoing investigation."
