[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] Former People Power Party lawmaker Na Kyung-won revealed on the 21st that her son has enlisted at the Nonsan Army Training Center in Chungnam, dismissing allegations surrounding her son’s overseas birth and preferential treatment in thesis authorship.

On the same day, Na posted on her Facebook a photo of her son with a short haircut and an embracing picture, along with hospital birth records, actively refuting the suspicions.

She stated, "This morning, my son left for the Nonsan Army Training Center. As a mother, I naturally wanted to see him off at the training center, but I am currently heading to the Seoul Southern District Court for the fast-track trial." She added, "My son is growing up properly and going to protect the Republic of Korea, while I am receiving this oppressive trial trying to protect the constitutional order of Korea."

Regarding the allegations that arose last year about her son’s overseas birth and preferential treatment in thesis authorship, Na said, "This is a witch hunt and diversion investigation started to deflect public anger and attention from the 'Cho Kuk incident.' According to a certain media report, even the Central District Prosecutors’ Office under Prosecutor General Lee Sung-yoon, a close aide of Minister Chu Mi-ae, concluded 'all charges unfounded.' This is the actual truth."

She continued, "Nevertheless, it is said that the core faction of Minister Chu in the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office, now without Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl, is desperately trying to label my son as 'prosecution suspended.' Such a terrifying obsession," adding, "It can only be seen that a secret Blue House line operating under Minister Chu’s orders is hidden throughout the prosecution office."

Na said, "I applied for non-attendance at the trial because I wanted to be with my son even a little longer, but the court did not accept it. I will not dare to say I am sad or hurt," but added, "Still, I cannot hide my remorse for my son who has to be unjustly suspected and caught up in controversy because of me."

She concluded, "It is difficult, but I will not stop, and even if I am exhausted, I will not fall," emphasizing, "I will go my own way."
