Popularity of Rest Gadgets During COVID-19... Massage Products Up 45% Customers are trying out massage chairs and massage guns at the Lotte Hi-Mart Megastore Jamsil branch.

[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] ‘Rest appliances’ for those tired of repetitive daily life are gaining popularity.


According to Lotte Hi-Mart on the 18th, from November 24 to December 17, when the ‘social distancing’ level in the metropolitan area was raised to level 2, total sales of massage products increased by 45% compared to the same period last year. During the same period, sales of massage chairs increased by 42%, and small massage devices such as massage guns increased by up to 131%.


Accordingly, nationwide Lotte Hi-Mart stores have prepared various events until the 31st of this month for consumers considering purchasing massage chairs. Consumers who purchase massage chairs from brands such as Cozyma, HuTech, and Osim will receive gifts depending on the brand and product purchased. These include dedicated rugs that can be placed under the product, consumables such as auxiliary pads and covers, and hand, eye, and knee massagers. Additionally, a Lotte mobile gift certificate worth about 300,000 KRW is also given.


Song Chang-hyun, head of Life Team 3 at Lotte Hi-Mart, said, “Since overseas travel and massage treatments are not possible, purchases of rest appliances that allow people to rest and manage themselves at home have increased. Also, massage guns are relatively compact, making it easy to relieve stiff muscles for those who cannot use external exercise facilities such as gyms.”
