Recruitment of executives from major construction companies. Strengthening professional management system
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] Kim Seon-gyu (68), former president of the Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG), has been appointed as the Chairman of Hoban Group. Hoban Group also strengthened its professional management system by recruiting a large number of executives from top-tier major construction companies in this personnel reshuffle.
On the 17th, Hoban Group announced that it had carried out a regular executive personnel reshuffle centered on the appointment of Chairman Kim.
Chairman Kim joined Hyundai Construction in 1977 and was promoted to Vice President in 2006. He served as CEO of Hyundai Urban Development in 2009 and was president of Korea Housing Guarantee (now Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation, HUG) from January 2012 to January 2015. He is regarded as an expert in the construction field within the industry.
Park Cheol-hee was appointed as the new CEO of Hoban Construction, the main affiliate of Hoban Group. Kim Dae-heon, head of the planning division and eldest son of Chairman Kim Sang-yeol, was promoted from Vice President to President.
Additionally, Choi Seung-nam, who had served as the Chairman and CEO of the group, moved to become CEO of Hoban Hotel & Resort, and Song Jong-min, former CEO of Hoban Construction, was appointed CEO of Hoban Property.
Through this personnel reshuffle, Hoban Group recruited many executives from top-tier major construction companies. Lee Jong-tae, Vice President and head of the business division at Hoban Construction, is from Daelim Industrial; Kim Yang-gi, Vice President and head of the management division, is from Daewoo Construction; Executive Director Yoon Jong-jin (head of product development) is from Samsung C&T; and Executive Director Kim Seong-jae (head of management innovation) is from SK Networks.
Executive Director Lee Chan-yeol (head of management) of Hoban Industry worked at SK Group, and Managing Director Kim Jong-geon (head of finance team) worked at Daelim Industrial. Lee Woo-gyu, Vice President appointed as CEO of Samsung Gold Exchange, Hoban Group’s precious metals brokerage affiliate, is from POSCO Construction. A Hoban Group official explained, "This is to strengthen the professional management system."
