4th Appointment Since Initial Assignment in March
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 17th that it will reissue a special travel advisory for all overseas travel by Korean nationals to all countries and regions for one month starting from the 18th.
This special travel advisory will remain in effect until January 16 of next year unless extended separately. This is the fourth travel alert since the first issuance in March, and there are no changes to the special travel advisory for countries and regions under travel alert levels 3 and 4.
The special travel advisory is issued in cases of urgent short-term risks and corresponds to travel alert levels 2 to 3. It is valid for up to 90 days from the date of issuance and is usually issued on a monthly basis.
This special travel advisory issuance takes into account the World Health Organization (WHO)'s declaration of a global pandemic, the continued worldwide spread of COVID-19, and the ongoing situation where many countries have imposed entry bans or restrictions on all travelers and suspended flight operations.
Additionally, it considers the urgent need to prevent cases of COVID-19 infection among Korean nationals traveling abroad and to encourage restraint in overseas visits for domestic quarantine purposes.
An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged, "We ask our nationals planning overseas travel to cancel or postpone their trips, and those currently staying abroad to strictly adhere to hygiene rules to avoid exposure to COVID-19 infection risks, refrain from participating in large gatherings and going out or traveling, minimize contact with others, and pay special attention to personal safety."
