CJ Foodville Donates Tous Les Jours Bread to Military Personnel

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] Toujours, operated by CJ Foodville, has stepped up to support bread for military personnel who dedicate themselves to the country and its people.

Toujours delivered 3,750 Toujours breads to the 5th Division Recruit Training Center located in Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi Province. The bread donated this time was accumulated through Toujours's donation-linked sharing campaign ‘Good Bread,’ and was prepared for military personnel who have been working hard to overcome the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Toujours donated a total of 3,750 breads, 1,250 each, over three occasions on December 3, 4, and 8 to the training center.

Launched by CJ Foodville in 2014, the ‘Good Bread Campaign’ is a social contribution activity that accumulates one sharing bread (red bean bread or soboro bread) for every two good breads sold and donates them to socially vulnerable groups such as child welfare facilities. In addition, the second Friday of every month is designated as ‘Good Bread Sharing Day,’ during which all CJ Foodville employees visit child welfare facilities to volunteer and personally deliver sharing bread, fulfilling their social responsibility.

This year, CJ Foodville is leading related local donation activities and franchise support to help overcome the COVID-19 crisis. In February, Toujours delivered 2,000 breads to the Deoksan-eup Administrative Welfare Center in Jincheon-gun, Chungbuk, and the Disaster Countermeasures Headquarters in Asan-si, Chungnam, for Wuhan residents temporarily returning home and the government joint support team. In addition, to support franchises facing difficulties, CJ Foodville supplied 50,000 bread ingredients for bread, which saw a surge in demand due to COVID-19, and hand sanitizers free of charge, and expanded return support for Daegu area franchises throughout March. Furthermore, in March, Toujours supported 2,000 breads to about 730 children belonging to 28 child centers in the Daegu area, who have been striving to overcome COVID-19 damage.

CJ Foodville CEO Kim Chan-ho said, “We decided to support snacks for military personnel to encourage and cheer on the soldiers who have recently been facing difficulties such as movement restrictions and training suspensions,” adding, “We hope this will be a source of strength for the military personnel going through tough times due to the cold and the COVID-19 situation.”
