Operating 3 Programs: Ecological Environment School, Science School, Career and Job School... Applications Open Until the 21st, Winners Selected by Computerized Drawing
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Nowon-gu (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) will operate ‘Nowon N School,’ a program that allows students to spend the upcoming winter vacation meaningfully through various experiential activities.
Nowon N School is a project that materializes the proposal from this year’s Nowon University Student Idea Contest, utilizing educational facilities within the region. It aims to expand opportunities for university students to participate in educational activities through mentor connections and to provide diverse educational opportunities for youth.
This winter vacation program will run from January 4 to 16 next year, offering three programs: ▲Ecological Environment School ▲Science School ▲Career and Job School.
Each program runs for three days on different schedules: Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday for Ecological Environment School and Science School; Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for Career and Job School.
First, the ‘Ecological Environment School’ will be held at the Butterfly Garden and Ecology Learning Center, Choansan Ceramic Experience Center, Science Park, and Jungnangcheon Environment Center.
The ‘Science School’ will take place at Nowon Space School, Seoul Metropolitan Science Museum, and Nowon Mathematics Culture Center, while the final ‘Career and Job School’ will be held at the Imagination Room Center and Seoul Metropolitan Nowon Youth Job Experience Center. However, the schedule may change depending on the COVID-19 situation.
Applications are open until 6 p.m. on December 21.
The target applicants are students currently in grades 3 to 9 (elementary grade 3 to middle school grade 3) as of the application date, selecting 60 elementary school students and 60 middle school students.
The participation fee is 5,500 KRW for Science School, 10,000 KRW for Career and Job School, and for Ecological Environment School, 7,500 KRW for elementary students and 10,000 KRW for middle school students.
Up to 20% of the recruitment quota will be reserved for children from low-income families (recipients of National Basic Livelihood Security, legally designated lower-income groups, and near-poverty groups), who will receive full support for the participation fee.
Applications can be submitted through the ‘Integrated Application’ section on the Nowon-gu website, and participants will be selected by computerized lottery.
Winners will be announced on the website on December 28 and notified individually.
