Enhancing Quality of Life by Integrating Over 40 Innovative Technologies into Daily Life
Highest Competition Ratio Recorded at 143:1... Scheduled to Move In by the End of Next Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] Korea Water Resources Corporation announced on the 16th that it had closed the application for residents of 'Smart Village,' the first residential complex in the Busan Eco Delta Smart City National Pilot City, on the 14th.
Smart Village is a living lab-type demonstration complex where about 40 innovative technologies to be implemented in the Busan Smart City National Pilot City are applied first, allowing residents to experience future living and new technologies in advance. A living lab refers to a research space in daily life where citizens can test various Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies in their actual living spaces and provide feedback. It is being developed as the nation's first zero-energy Grade 1 block-type detached housing complex, consisting of a total of 56 households.
The various innovative technologies implemented in Smart Village are expected to significantly enhance the quality of life by affecting all aspects of residents' lives.
Smart home services for each household and innovative services within the complex are linked on a single platform to conveniently manage the indoor and outdoor environment of the home, and lifestyle diagnostics are conducted through various data analyses. Health status is monitored through a health monitoring system installed in the home and personal smart bands, and based on the collected data, the possibility of disease onset is predicted to determine whether a hospital visit is necessary. In case of symptoms, services linked with local cooperative hospitals and healthy meal management services are provided at the wellness center staffed with nurses. At the AI fitness center, an AI trainer analyzes individual health information and provides personalized exercise prescriptions.
An eco-friendly smart farm utilizing rainwater operates to grow edible crops such as salad vegetables and tomatoes, and the selection and growth process of crops also serve as a community platform for Smart Village residents. Waste generated at home is automatically sorted and collected by robots, and various robot services are available, including an autonomous serving robot delivering coffee made by a robot to customers.
The recruitment target is 54 households, excluding 2 experience households out of the total 56. They were recruited in categories of management households (6 households), special households (12 households), and general households (36 households). About 3,000 households applied through a public recruitment held for approximately 34 days from the 11th of last month, with the highest competition ratio reaching 143:1, showing strong public interest.
Korea Water Resources Corporation plans to conduct a document screening process combining quantitative and qualitative evaluations for all households to select responsible residents who will prepare for the future together. After the document screening, management and special households will undergo interviews, and general households will be selected through an on-tact public lottery event to be held at BEXCO on the 24th, finalizing the selection of 54 households.
The selected residents are scheduled to complete a one-year pre-education program for the Smart Village living lab and move in by the end of next year. After moving in, they will be obligated to participate in living lab operation training, provide feedback on demonstration services, and share personal information, playing a role in demonstrating and verifying various technologies applied to the smart city.
Recently, the private sector operator of the SPC for the construction and operation of the Busan Smart City National Pilot City (The Grand Consortium, led by Hanwha Energy) was also selected, raising expectations that the Busan pilot city centered on Smart Village will become a world-leading smart city model.
Park Jae-hyun, president of Korea Water Resources Corporation, said, "We thank the public for their enthusiastic interest and support for the recruitment of residents for Busan Eco Delta Smart Village," and added, "We hope this interest will lead to the success of the Smart City National Pilot City created together with citizens."
