Three Yongsan-gu Daycare Centers Install Smart IoT Air Showers Smart Air Shower

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Seong Jang-hyun) has installed ‘Smart Internet of Things (IoT) Air Showers’ at three daycare centers in the area.

This is to create a safe childcare environment from the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and fine dust.

The Smart IoT Air Shower is a smart device that uses the latest IoT technology to monitor and control indoor air quality in real time. It is installed at facility entrances in the form of a gate measuring 1.9m wide and 2.4m high, automatically recognizing people passing through and blowing strong air.

Standing under the gate for just 10 seconds automatically removes fine dust and deodorizes. Fourteen light-emitting diodes (LEDs) installed around the gate provide ultra-powerful sterilization and harmful substance removal functions. Data such as indoor fine dust levels, concentration, and humidity can also be immediately checked on a monitor attached to the side of the device.

The devices were installed at three locations: Malgeunsoop Daycare Center (76 Hannam-daero 40-gil), Yongsan Daycare Center (28 Hangang-daero 38-gil), and Huam Daycare Center (86 Duteopbawi-ro 1-gil).

The target locations were selected among district-run daycare centers with a capacity of 80 or more children where installation was feasible.

A district official said, “The Smart Air Shower can significantly block ultrafine dust and viruses that threaten children’s health,” adding, “The district will continue to do its best to improve disinfection and indoor air quality at daycare centers.”

Since July, the district has deployed 52 Hope Job personnel to carry out cleaning and disinfection tasks at 52 daycare centers.

The recruitment targets include unemployed persons, daily workers without regular income, those who lost jobs or closed businesses due to COVID-19, those on leave, and unpaid leave workers.

Additionally, the district has supported 118 daycare centers with disinfection supplies four times this year (85,164 masks, 3,689 hand sanitizers, 267 disinfectants, 278 thermometers, and 1,300 mask guards).

Seong Jang-hyun, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “We are mobilizing all possible measures to ensure children can live healthily amid the COVID-19 situation,” and urged, “Citizens are asked to continue maintaining strengthened social distancing.”
