[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jung] It has been pointed out that the two public rental housing units recently visited by President Moon Jae-in were places where the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) spent over 40 million won on interior work.

According to data submitted by LH to Kim Eun-hye, a member of the People Power Party, on the 16th, 42.9 million won (including furniture and fixtures) was spent on interior costs for the two public rental housing units located in Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi Province, which President Moon visited on the 11th.

When Representative Kim requested "all budgets spent for the president's visit," LH responded without detailed breakdowns, stating, "The contract amount for event agency services is 410 million won (to be settled after the event ends)."

In this public rental housing complex, complaints about defects such as wall mold and leaks were received almost monthly, averaging about one case per month.

As the controversy grew, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and LH explained that the houses visited by President Moon were "model homes," with no structural changes or interior construction, and that furniture and fixtures were only temporarily borrowed.

Regarding the 450 million won service contract, they added that it was not solely for these houses but also included costs for the model of the winning design from the public rental housing design competition and the production of promotional videos.
